The project has been launched! Construction work on shore power facilities has begun at Ennshafen port. Representatives of the partner companies involved and Ennshafen broke ground for the shore power facility.

Five modules with a total of 19 connection boxes will be installed. In future, even large ships will be able to obtain the electricity they need from these shore power systems and switch off their own generators while berthed, significantly reducing emissions at the quay. By the end of 2027 at the latest, state-of-the-art standards for cabin and cargo ships will be available throughout Ennshafen.

This infrastructure development is seen as an important step in the European infrastructure network for inland waterway transport and is supported by the EU’s CEF-2 programme, funded by CINEA (project no. 101174873 / 23-AT-TG-EDA_CG_Ennshafen).
